November.......To Warm

11-11-15

Unfortunately the fishing has been slow and not much to report. Its mid November and was 80 degrees today, Crazy. The fishing has been slow the past few outings, but was able to get this decent striper today. I have been hoping for better fishing but I think the unusually warm weather so far this fall has been slowing the fall bite. It should be picking up once we receive a couple hard cold fronts.

Crawdadding for fall bass

I've always liked throwing a crawdad pattern in the fall for bass. The fish really seem to key in on them. I was throwing a pattern I picked up at Orvis the other day. I really like it, I would probably trade out the silver/nickel dumbbell eyes for gold or copper colored ones. The fish didn't seem to mind.

Harvest Moon Carp

9-17-16

The moon was big and bright this morning with a of blue wing teal flying around at first light. I started the morning off throwing a crease fly for bass along the edges of the flats. Caught a couple decent largemouths. Once the sun got up enough to spot some carp I switched out the crease fly for a carp pattern. It was an extremely still morning and there wasn't a ripple on the water. I saw plenty of fish today but they were extremely spooky. The wind never really picked up and the fish stayed cautious all morning. I was able to trick a few of them but not gunna lie would have liked to have had a few more eats.
