Spawn : Week 1

The Spawn has started. There are a few fish on beds but the majority of them are still hanging right at the edges of their spawning grounds feeding and getting ready to move up with the next full moon which will be March 8th. The majority of fish that I have been catching have had bluegill tails in their throats and are getting full with eggs. I will be fishing 3-4 days a week over the next couple months and will be posting a report every week. One thing I am already liking about this spring is the wind does not seem it will be as bad. The last 2 springs we have had 20-30 mph winds most days. I'm hoping we will continue to have light winds.

Looking Up

The fishing has been terrible the past two weeks. I haven't caught a fish in the last two outings. That should change by mid February. Hopefully the weather will stay warm and the bass will start to show up on beds with the next full moon. I did go ahead and get a Mako trip booked for this summer. Can't Wait !!

Unbelievable Trip to NOLA

My buddy Justin and I had a crazy stupid trip to New Orleans, Louisiana chasing monster red fish and black drum. We sight fished to hundreds of 20-30+ lb fish over the course of 2 days. We had several doubles and landed hundreds of pounds of fish. It was one of the most epic fishing trips we have been on and we are ruined due to the fact no other place in the states can compare to the fishery in south Louisiana. We fished with Capt. Greg Moon (702-497-1673) for day one and Capt Greg Dini (407-538-0770) took us out on for the second day. They are awesome guides that we will be fishing with again, I couldn't say enough good things about these two Captains.  We took hundreds of pictures and got some good video that I will be putting together soon. Do yourself a favor, if you are thinking of fishing anywhere for red fish take a look at NOLA and these two captains because you wont be disappointed.

Good Fishing on the Guad

Fished the Guad again over new years weekend. Went back to the same hole I fished when I was down there over Thanksgiving. The fish where still there and the fishing remained good. I did notice a lot of osprey flying over the river. Didn't take to many pics and the few pics I did take didn't come out all that good.

The Waiting Game

Fished the dam again this morning. Got a few 3-5 lb fish. They are keeping me sane while I put in my time for another double digit. Its only a matter of time, I know they are there everything just has to come together. Hopefully soon........

The Dam is Dead

That's what I have read on some of the local forums. Its not because of a lack of fish, but because of an over abundance of bait. The fish are very fat and healthy right now. A couple of fish from this morning.
